Our company offers a wide range of continuing education courses for sleep technologists and respiratory therapists  Courses are periodically offered at locations in the Kansas City and St. Louis metropolitan areas or can be arranged to be conducted at your facility.  Please contact us for additional information about scheduling a course or workshop at your facility.

Registry Preparation Workshop
(Two Full Days 8:30am-5:30pm)

Due to the comprehensive content of the course and the desire to provide a low attendee to instructor ratio, this course is limited to 5 attendees per session.

Approved for 16 AARC continuing education contact hours (CEUs)

Scoring Workshop

Two full days of didactic and practical training applying the AASM scoring standards.  The course includes, but is not limited to, the following: technical equipment and sensor placement specifications, introduction of AASM rules for scoring arousals and movement events, introduction of AASM rules for scoring respiratory events and patterns, review ECG and introduce placement and recommended terms, practice sleep staging and respiratory scoring applying the AASM guidelines, math formulas and calculations required (PSG?s, titration studies, MSLTs, MWTs), review the new guidelines for the final report, histograms, practice /report calculations and summary.

Pediatric Workshop

Introducing the Child to the Sleep Lab,
 Pediatric Scoring Rules, Pediatric Diseases,
and Pediatric Monitoring and Safety in the Lab.



 

Sleep Disordered Breathing and Titration

Control of Ventilation,  Respiratory Scoring Rules,
 AASM Titration Guidelines, and
 Complex Sleep Disordered Breathing and ASV



 

ECG Workshop

Cardio-physiology review, scoring rules, cardiac disease during sleep,
 Cheyne-Stokes and congestive heart failure, and ECG practice with feedback.


 


 
PSG Topics Workshop

Consists of polygraph and ancillary equipment operation, digital specifications, seizure recognition and safety in the sleep lab, medication effects on sleep and sleep disorders, and fatigue management in the sleep lab




Safety in the Sleep Center

Cardiopulmonary conditions associated with sleep disorders and sleep disordered breathing and emergency policies/procedures.  Seizure recoginition/monitoring in the sleep center and emergency policies/procedures. Dealing with behavioral issues arising in the sleep center.  Standards for incorporating EMS into your training and policies.




Narcolepsy: History to Current Concepts

History of Narcolepsy, Narcolepstic Tetrad and Clinical Diagnosis, Hypocretin/Orexin, Current Research and Treatments



 
Advanced Topics in Polysomnography

Topics include hypocretins and narcolepsy, circadian rhythms, pharmaceutical research and gender-related sleep disorders.
